About the Core Course

Below are answers to the questions we get the most often about our Live and Self-Paced Core Course. For more detailed answers, please visit our Help Desk.
Course Requirements

What Do I Need to Prepare?

From land access to prerequisites, find out everything you need to know about what you need to have to be successful in the Core Course.

Do I need to have land?

No, you do not need land access to complete the course, though, depending on your goals, you may want to have permission to work on a small plot, either on your own property or that of a friend or neighbor's. A front yard or backyard would suffice for these.

Are there any prerequisites?

There are no prerequisites to take our current course offerings. You just need to come to the course eager to learn and ready to put in the work. We do recommend that everyone view as much of our content in the Community, on Youtube, or on our Website, as possible. This will create a solid foundation of understanding.

How much time do I need?

The weekly time commitment of this course ranges from 2 hours to 15 hours depending on the actions required and the lengths of videos within the module. Some of the later modules will require even more time to complete, sometimes reaching 20+ hours depending on how you choose to complete the action.

Do I need access to machines?

You do NOT need to have access to heavy equipment to complete the course requirements. If you do have access to these things and wish to work on a larger scale as you move through the workbook actions, you absolutely can. But all of the land based requirements can be done with basic hand tools on a smaller scale. Students are provided with a list of necessary basic equipment.

How long does it take to complete?

The Live Core Course takes 6 months to complete. During the first 5 months, new modules are released every other week.

The Self-Paced Course can be completed at your own pace over a 12 month period. It is possible to finish the Self-Paced Core Course in as little as one month, but we recommend you give yourself at least 3 months.
