Water Stories is a learning, training, and action platform focused entirely on Water Cycle Restoration.
Water Stories offers a community-centered approach to solving our most pressing environmental crises. Drought, flood, fire, polluted water - no matter what issue you face, we have solutions that deliver meaningful results after the first rainy season.
We empower people to create healthy landscapes and water abundance by transforming watersheds into water-catchments. People around the world are learning how to quickly create real substantive change for the health of their landscapes and communities by working with water.
Who do we look to for guidance when rivers go dry, when floods breach our streets, and when people flee their homes due to wildfire? We find that telling true stories is the greatest way to provide inspiration and hope for a world in crisis, so we’ve created films that tell the stories of some of the world’s greatest water heroes.
Our award-winning films tell stories of people who have raised their communities out of extreme environmental crises, and show how Water Cycle Restoration works in an easy to understand way.
All of our films are available for free on our online community.
Sepp Holzer
Sepp Holzer is an Austrian Mountain farmer who defied convention to create an “Eden of the Alps”. By creating dozens of water bodies on his steep mountain farm, and planting thousands of trees, Sepp created one of the most diverse, ecological wonderlands in Europe. Sepp’s work has transformed countless communities across the earth, who have modeled his decentralized water retention features to reverse drought, and bring abundant water supplies back to their land.
Wangari Maathai
Waangari Maathai is a mother and a teacher, who started an environmental movement in Kenya that won her the Nobel Prize. Seeing the destruction of tree cover and springs in her community, she started an organization to plant trees and look after women’s rights. This became the Green-Belt movement, which transformed Kenya by helping train women to plant millions of trees and protect ecosystems.
Rajendra Singh
Rajendra Singh is known as the Waterman of India. While tending to his drought-stricken impoverished community as a medical doctor, an interaction with a patient shifted his focus to restoring water.. Starting alone with a shovel, his work grew into a movement of tens of thousands of villagers, building water retention spaces that captured the rain, lowered the temperature, and brought back water to a million+ people in Rajasthan.
Water Stories offers in-depth training on creating water retention systems and restoring the water cycle through its courses. The courses are designed to help you gain a fundamental understanding of how you can make a positive impact on restoring water supplies and ecosystems for your specific context, along with the real world practice and actions to achieve.
